Been for a test ride today and all I can say it ticks all the boxes great power train you don't notice gear changes.

It was a prototype but no rattles off road.

Rear wheel/ handbrake

Hmm just watched it, thanks for putting the effort in Will.

I'm left feeling slightly deflated by your statement that they are not aiming this at the off road enthusiast. I appreciate out the box it will be a 'modern SUV' so to speak, with an functional work-horse twist - but I'm concerned that it could be limited in terms of 'upgradabililty'.

For example - the wheels. If you can't put 35" tyres on, I can't see the Australians seeing this as a proper 4x4. The 35" tyres these guys got on the new Defender made it look so much better in my eyes:



There is the hint of the suggestion that Ineos is designing this for the person who doesn't modify their car - and this is almost entirely the reason I like Defenders - you can customise them to make them unique to you.


Having said that, if there is a will, I am sure the aftermarket scene will find a way. 2005 Td5 90 XS

I think if the aftermarket get involved (which they probably will) there will become lots of things. They do want people to "modify" their vehicles, bolting things off, etc. They're trying to find the balance of what accessories they should make and what left to the aftermarket. There are extra bolt holes, rivnuts, mounting areas around the vehicle (inside, outside and underneath) with the expectation that they'll be used for something by someone.

The 35" tyres, i'm sure someone could make it work, but not out of the box. If you remove the inner wheel arch and cut the bodywork a little then they'd probably fit (as we'd do on a Defender), as the crash structure is above and slightly inboard of the spring seats. They just aren't approaching it's offroad flexibility like the Jeep Wrangler does, which the Defender never did either. Removing the anti roll bars would be more work than a Defender, but being 4 link it has good potential for articulation LR Workshop

I know we need protecting from ourselves but why reversing sensors and no ashtray btw I don't smoke but thank smokers for he handy trinket tray they have provided us with over the years.

Very enjoyable videos. Long time since I got so excited watching a late online video..without any nudity Whistle Anyway back to the nitty gritty (no not one of "THOSE" videos!). I noticed the heater/ventilation unit for the middle row seats takes up a lot of room. It would probably limit the middle second row seat to child use only. But as it is still a model in progress it could change but it is a good idea. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
