in fairness the siliblades look like normal ones as well. You can tell they are not though when you try them on a dry screen,

Hmm...mine look exactly like that.

The leaflet in each pack stated something along the lines of "if ordered online, then proof of guarantee is your email confirmation".

Thumbs Up

Lucas online appear to be selling a 'flatblade' suitable for a defender - says only 93/94 model station wagon when you select it.....this technology works well on my beemer

Anybody know if this part fits and is effective?

Yup, Paddocks sell them for £2.99 a pop. They wipe the windscreen for about 6 months, then they break. At that rate a £30 pair of wiper blades would have to last 3 years? Doubt they do.

I've had mine for 18 months and they are like new. Very happy with them.

Did you use 'em? Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Steve - I'm using Bosch Aeroblade Retrofit 13" on mine. Purely because I like the look of flat blade wipers. I've only had them on 3 months, so can't really comment on longevity. They're not cheap in comparison to standard wipers, although there are cheaper flat blades available but I wanted to stick with Bosch. I bought mine here.

Only slight negative is that the mounting 'block' is quite chunky, although I think it looks fine on a Defender. Would probably look out of proportion on a normal car. The other thing is that I'm not sure the pre-formed curve in the wipers really likes a completely flat windscreen. When I first fitted them the centre of one wiper was missing the screen, because the memory curve in the blade was holding it away from the glass. I just pushed the wiper arm onto the glass firmly, and they've been fine since. The springs on Defender wiper arms aren't that strong, so this is a potential issue with other brands of this type of wiper blade.

To be honest, unless you really like the look of flat blade wipers, I'd probably go with the suggestions above. They're cheaper and will probably last a lot better as well. Once again, Defender vanity has got the better of me! Thumbs Up

I took a couple of pics so you can see what they look like:

well the other day I fitted tripledge wipers and also applied Rain x but in the rain they smear like crazy - with the effects worse at night. I don't know if its both used together thats causing it or if I did something wrong but I spent an hour trying to remove the rain x with Cif ( as advised on their website ) and now its even worse ! Mad

Everyone else seems to swear by them but has anyone had this problem with this combo ?

Triple edge tell you not to use any other rain repellent with the wipers. Have had Triple edge wiperblades fitted for sometime and have no complaints. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Green Machine - thanks for the advice and pictures - I can see what you mean by the block size - but they look quite neat.

I have decided to fit Silblades due to the many recommendations and I think silicone is likely to deal better with the conditions I expect to encounter in Scandinavia this winter
