I appreciate this is a little OT but, as many of us on here have Series LRs I'm hoping someone may have the following for sale;
- 109 Canvas and hoodsticks (happy to buy separately or parts thereof) - Hardtop, sides and catflap - 3 Bolt tailgate - Tailgate cappings for rear tub - Rear floor x-members / 109 tub I can use for spares - Glass lens type side lights / indicator assemblies or parts - Sprung type seat bases - Wing mirror heads - Anything else you think may be useful for this; Click image to enlarge I'm keen to keep the vehicle looking as original as possible so weathered parts are ideal. Also happy to travel or arrange a courier. Many thanks in advance. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

This type, though I'm not 100% sure if they are correct?

I suspect that when new it would have been fitted with Lucas L488 sidelight units at the front (https://www.holden.co.uk/p/lucas_l488_type_sidelamp_single_contact) and no indicator lights. The indicators when fitted would most likely have been Lucas L549 (https://www.holden.co.uk/p/lucas_l594_type_flasher_lamp_single_contact) which have a glass which has a deeper dome, to make it more visible from side-on angles. When the indicators were fitted the sidelights were moved inboard. The same indicators would have been fitted at the rear.
I think the lights that excossack is describing are the earlier type of military lights (used on, amongst other things, Sankey narrow-track trailers) which have a metal "cup" with a coarse thread fixed to the vehicle, and a glass with four "ears" which screw into the cup. I believe that these are now quite hard to find, especially with the "ears" intact. These are the type shown in the upper photo on this page (http://www.sslawcorp.com/Military-Vehicle-Parts/screw-on-lenses-Military-Lucas-MOD/666383/). The original type of glass was later replaced in military service with the larger type shown in the lower photo on the same page, which fit the same base. I doubt that your fire appliance would have had military pattern lights when built, unless it was originally suppled to the MOD. As mentioned before I think it was a civilian HD spec with HD cooling for stationary running, and as such is most likely to have had standard lighting for the era. |

I have some of the glass screw in ones - two have one ear missing.
and I have the bigger/wider glass ones with the metal band/thread on the lense. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

I didn't click on Blackwolf's links but I bought my 488 and 594 lamps from Holdens too. If it's the same now I'd advise spending a bit more and get the ones with metal holders, far better than the cheaper plastic versions.

Great, thanks both! I'll order from Holdens if I can't find any original units. From the 'ring' in the paint around the sidelights it certainly looks as though a larger dia. fitting was previously used. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

I have a plain 109 hardtop and a pair of plain sides (I think the sides are plain, I'd have to go and look they're up at the storage unit). Just off the M6 at Warrington - drop me a PM if any good.

I have a 109 hardtop and cat flap, however the hardtop has period style sliding Windows, easy to change to solid panels on side
Drop me a pm if your still looking |

Its worth scouring autojumbles for genuine lenses made from coloured glass. A lot of modern replacements are all clear glass which are coated with respective colour on the inner surface, but which will quickly fade, and look terrible. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

It looks as though the L639 indicators are original fitment (only 2 mounting holes in the wing). So, if anyone has a spare lens and parts (body etc.) please let me know.
