Looks like they've been taking tips in ergonomics from BMW. Looks well laid out and easy to find stuff. None of those impossible to find buttons that you find on Mercedes & Volvo (they both hide the fog light buttons behind the steering wheel).
The dial in the centre is very BMW from early 2000s (possibly more recently too?). Great way to navigate menus; much easier than touch screen. Only negative for me is the automatic gears. I think I'm going to have to learn to with without a manual gearbox in the future. |

From the dimensions diagram it’s wider than a New Defender (ok it’s 8mm), which is pretty wide. Grenadier 2.113m ND 2.105m, like N D that rules it out of going to a lot of narrow places. 20cm wider than an old Defender.
Also I wonder if that is the “fully loaded” version and if the basic one is going to have lots and lots of switch blanks just to remind you that you couldn’t afford a heap of options. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Big buttons for people with sausage fingers / gloves on (or both), relatively simple controls, sensible layout, what's not to like? It would be annoying to look at all the switch blanks if you had an entry level model.
It all looks good, but does make me think the price will be much higher than initially indicated. |

Took me a while to process, as the whole aeroplane switchgear thing was a complete surprise - but I think I love it!
Couldn't be further away from the whole touchscreen-only concept that Tesla and others are embracing. So it looks like there's just a slot behind the steering wheel - for your phone maybe? If you're using it for satnav then I guess that's a good a place as any... |

I think that is absolutely fabulous. Love it. Like a Disco 3 dashboard crossed with a military aircraft cockpit. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I do like that super heavy switchgear approach and the roof mounted section - that is a stroke of genius.
I do have one gripe though. That best have a speedo display HUD or similar in front of the driver! Given authorities' obsession with speed limits and keeping to them, NOT having that will create a dangerous driving experience - trust me, I had the misfortune to have a big Citroen MPV many years ago that suffered this particular design catastrophe (central speedo) and it was awful! Looking good so far, that is ticking a lot of the requisite boxes!
I wonder if there is provision for a digital tacho, I imagine that (unlike LR on the old (and as far as I know) the new Defender) this is something that will have been considered. |
