Wheel arch extension pictures
I'm deliberating about ordering these but would be great to see them fitted, has anyone done this or know of any pictures available? I'll probably get them painted the same as the body colour.
TIA...

I am also looking for some wheel arch extension pictures, specifically on X and X-dynamic.

I have not seen many examples of those trims w/ Wheel Arch Extensions.

We have them fitted , they look great but are inadequately attached and one blew off on the motorway !
They just use double sided sticky tape to adhere them to the wing, not wildly impressed , especially as there are multiple fixing points they could have used instead .

When I got it replaced the dealer didn’t even stick it on straight and it’s now expanded in the heat of the sun and buckled .
I’m waiting for something else to go wrong before I go back to the dealer again, to make the inconvenience moderately more bearable .

Nice thanks @AndrewS

Did you have the arches gloss painted?

Here are a couple of pictures of an X-Dynamic with wheel extensions from inside one of my local dealers (I had an extended test drive of a 90):

I thought it looked a bit weird with the different types of trim (one gloss and one not) - it would look better if the wheel arch extensions were resprayed.

Is double sided tape normal? Sounds really poor for a £50K + vehicle that is designed to be unstoppable. Can't have wheel arch protection flying off on the motorway!

Yes - double sided tape is how they are fixed......

Mine did the same as the pictures above - bulging out in the heat - they refitted / replaced them.

I was thinking about a set of those for mine, but I think I’ll leave it. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I’ve bought a set for mine in May to fit them myself, but seeing all the problems folks appear to be having with theirs fitted by dealers (experts at doing it I don’t think!) I’ll hold back fitting them. Haven’t had any problems with the standard production line fitted ones so not wanting to tempt fate. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Thanks for posting the pictures, based on the looks and the issues I'm going to give them a wide berth.

Snap.

Was struggling to work out how they were fitted and then I saw an installation video and thought, as you do, ... I wonder how much thermal linear expansion of the arch that tape will accommodate

This is quite concerning as I’m due to have these fitted next week on my 110 which is due then.
In addition to the heat issue, will the tape fail when driving through deep water, which was a regular occurrence last winter?

I had chequer plate glued to the side of a disco I had...I didn’t want to rivet.

They took loads of abuse and never came off. The trick is good surface prep and a quality product. Get it wrong and you’ll chase it for ages Mike
