At least that photo has made my mind up, definitely won’t bother with those. I liked them on my D3 but then that was designed to have them.

Looks fine without

Peanutbob,

If you have them fitted at PDI you get a 3yr warranty on accessories….so no worries if there are issues.

3. This thin tape is unlikely IMO to remain effective during a U.K. wet winter. Water will ingress and damp anyway. I guess you could use double sided number plate tape which is very resilient but if ever the arches were taken off, then there would be a heck of a job to remove this tape without damaging the paint.

I've had LR rubbing strips on the doors of an 18 year old Land Rover, which are held on with what looks like the same type of 3M tape. Over that time, and through many a wet winter, they've stayed solid.

The arches look great, but I wouldn’t be happy after spending £612 if they started to fall off .

I agree on both points. It would be pretty naff if they started to buckle off after paying so much.

It's possible to fit them DIY, and therefore take time and make sure you do a good preparation job prior to fixing. But they still cost £500, and I can imagine that if the DIY fitment started to come away, the dealer will just say they 'weren't professionally fitted', and want nothing more to do with it. So I may just bite the bullet, and have them do it, and hope they don't rush the prep. To get the 3 year warranty. Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders

I fitted mine on Sunday. I took my time on surface preparation, and everything went broadly to plan.

The fixtures certainly seem pretty robust; and I was impressed at the way the double-sided tape (post clean, alcohol wipe and adhesion promoter) immediately pulled the trims onto the body - leaving none of the gaps seen elsewhere on this thread.

The standard trims came away pretty easily, and the whole job was done in about two hours. I’m an enthusiastic amateur, at best…
