I've had LR rubbing strips on the doors of an 18 year old Land Rover, which are held on with what looks like the same type of 3M tape. Over that time, and through many a wet winter, they've stayed solid.
I agree on both points. It would be pretty naff if they started to buckle off after paying so much. It's possible to fit them DIY, and therefore take time and make sure you do a good preparation job prior to fixing. But they still cost £500, and I can imagine that if the DIY fitment started to come away, the dealer will just say they 'weren't professionally fitted', and want nothing more to do with it. So I may just bite the bullet, and have them do it, and hope they don't rush the prep. To get the 3 year warranty. Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders |

I fitted mine on Sunday. I took my time on surface preparation, and everything went broadly to plan.
The fixtures certainly seem pretty robust; and I was impressed at the way the double-sided tape (post clean, alcohol wipe and adhesion promoter) immediately pulled the trims onto the body - leaving none of the gaps seen elsewhere on this thread. The standard trims came away pretty easily, and the whole job was done in about two hours.
