I’ve been through one MfK with mine when it hit the five year mark and I’m curious to how he would know? They did not put mine on rollers to check the brakes (bad for center diff) and instead did a driving brake check, but not to the point of lockup… Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

I’m in Switzerland also. Just sounds weird, I don’t think a defender will get into abs at 50kph… Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇭

this was in Lausanne, they are notoriously picky
the first signal was the absence of the ABS light on the dash then they looked around (no idea for what), then final test slamming on the breaks i’m checking with LR to understand if the system was installed to begin with, but would also like to know if there are signs that such system might be installed and maybe not working |

The instrument pack is standard on all TDCi Defenders and is not an indication of whether or not ABS is/was fitted. The easiest way to tell if it is fitted is to look for the ABS modulator under the bonnet, it is unmistakeable (do a google image search for "Defender ABS modulator" to see what it looks like). If you have one, you should have ABS. If you don't have one, it doesn't.
Other ways to tell: if you have ABS there are separate brake lines running the length of the chassis to the rear axle and two brake hoses from the chassis to the rear axle. If you don't have ABS there will be one brake line and one hose. I cannot really see why anyone would remove the ABS, so it is more likely to be a mistake on the specification. |

thanks blackwolf
my biggest problem is right now that I'll be squashed between two unmovable entities: swiss bureaucracy ("the doc says there's an ABS, so there must be an ABS") and Land Rover ("we will not modify the certificate of conformity") let's see what comes up |

Is there a fuse or relay in the ABS slots under the driver's seat (in a RHD car)?

On TD5 Defender there is a big differece in brake servo - ABS version is much bigger than non-ABS. So look also on this. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

Alright I did some pics
Fuse box: I am comparing with this https://www.lrworkshop.com/electrics/defen...nd-headers and I can't really conclude anything. I see fuses 19 and 16, can't see fuse 1. Click image to enlarge Under the bonnet: I don't see a modulator Click image to enlarge Lines under the chassis (probably not clear enough): Click image to enlarge |

I just heard back from LR: the ABS was never installed on my car, the conformity certificate was wrong.
Took 12 years for somebody to realise that, glad I am the one who figured it out /s |

Your photos clearly show a vehicle without ABS. The build spec sheet you have been given by Landrover is wrong!
