Factory Alarm...locking with windows open?
I sometimes, like today when I'm working my dog in a field, want to leave the 90 locked but with windows open.

However I have one of those sound/pressure detectors as part of the factory alarm that inevitably means the alarm goes off after a while.

Same applies if windows are shut, but I've left the dog in side e.g. going to pay for fuel

Does anyone know a way to disable this part of the alarm, or to lock the car on central locking without setting the alarm? Could it be as simple as covering it before I set the alarm?

Lock the car using the key in the driver's door. The alarm will be set but without the volumetric sensor being turned on. Unlock in the usual way (plip) or you'll set the alarm off.

An alternative some folk do is to pop the volumetric sensor off the headlining and unplug one of the wires, thereby disabling it. I find that the proper method (key in door) works best.

Not sure how widely it applies but on both my TD5 and Puma- leave driver's door open; press 'lock' button on remote fob; horn sounds, briefly (signifying disarm of sensors); close door. Cheers, Guy.

Really? That is not how it should work. If the driver's handbook is to be believed, if you do this the volumetric sensor will be disabled until the moment you shut the door properly, then will arm.

Following @blackwolf post I've had a look at my (2014) TDCi handbook and it clearly doesn't cover anything about arming the alarm without the volumetric sensors. I think the door thing my post referred to was set out in my TD5 manual but could be mistaken. I think @blackwolf may have been referring to it in an old thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic5817-15.html

I would have said blackwolf's approach was correct, key in door, that is certainly how the older Discoverys worked and they used the same alarm ECU.

My Puma doesn't have an alarm and is rarely locked, so can't say for sure! ---
