probably a little late after 10+ years of ownership to be asking about keys but as I've never needed to use keys on the rear door I've never known the answer.
anyhow a simple question I'm sure. I presume the ignition key is also for the rear door? I know it fits the drivers door but it doesn't seem to fit the rear and neither does the fuel cap key? Am I missing something simples here? |

Or new (second hand) door at some point which isn’t rare due to spare wheel weight.

hmm.
I'll try again. I've had the motor from new. so unless its had a new door / lock before I picked it up and was never given the keys? (which to be honest would not surprise me). |

You guys with the luxury of central locking.... you don’t know how lucky you are. And I bet you have electric windows also Ride like you stole it!!

I've given it a thorough good going over with WD40 - see what happens the weekend. Its absolutely solid so I'm not holding my breath. |

I have Central Locking, and a separate Key for my Back Door. Looks identical to my ignition key, but ignition key doesn't work.
Probably not the original door tho |

The only reason I know this is my rear lock was a bit seized and the solenoid on the CL couldn't lock it. Repeated use of WD40 has freed it up so it now works on the C/L again

Central locking and electric windows came together as the "convenience pack", so yes, we have both. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

I’ve just fitted electric windows, got fed up of asking people on the near side to come round because my arms weren’t long enough to open the passenger window.
Should I add central locking too, or just keep it simple? Ride like you stole it!! If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do… 2011 2.4 Puma 90 HT |

What year is your defender ? As you will need to check your AS10 or ALM unit first as it will need to support Central Door Locking. Else it’s replacing it with a new one that does support CDL and configure it to do so. |

Have a look at this
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic70599.html?highlight=cdl Within this post is a link to a company that can add the CDL relay to the 10AS unit and provide key fobs. https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/la...-services/ So It seems a mod can be done on your alarm ECU, which being a 2011 model will very likely be a green 10 AS unit. You can check by removing the drivers footwell speaker and looking upwards to the right* . If it’s green then it’s the Lucas 10AS alarm module so the mod in the post I linked to above should be applicable. *Thats for RHD vehicles, not sure where it is for LHD defenders. Just stating for our non RHD members |
