US site doesnât include sales tax, roughly 8-10% depending on state that gets billed directly to individual. So for a true comparison you have to take VAT off the UK car. Even then youâll find it saves money to ship it a few thousand miles rather than cost.
LR has been subsidizing US sales from UK and EU margin for a long time đ |

not surprised, Australian pricing is comparable to the UK, my Spec (P400 SE) in the US is a good $25K USD less than what I paid in OZ even taking into account an average US Sales tax of around 9-10% LR love to price to what they believe the market will "bear/tolerate" yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

Am i right in thinking that many US dealerships mark up the retail prices as well?

quite a few reports on the Defender FB user groups of dealers asking for substantial $$$ over the MSRP sticker price.. apparently all part of the "supply/damand" market forces at work in the US.. yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

despite spec level names being the same either side of the pond, the toy count is not always the same making this kind of comparison difficult
that notwithstanding historically the US has always had a better deal, sticker price wise than us in the UK Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history) |

LR used to put it down to âmarket conditionsâ in the USA ie they had to price lower in the USA or the cars would be too expensive compared to other Marques in the same segments.
