US vs UK pricing
I just read the below on line form a L633 owner in the US.

Just for the heck of it I went to Land Rover's UK site and priced out a build as similar to the U.S. build of an X-Dynamic SE. I wanted to see what options the UK version had that maybe the U.S. version did not. When I was done, and using the Pound to Dollar conversion of 1.42, the UK build was $20,000 USD more. Does that sound right or did I miss a boat-load of options somewhere?

Interesting eh? 😂

US site doesn’t include sales tax, roughly 8-10% depending on state that gets billed directly to individual. So for a true comparison you have to take VAT off the UK car. Even then you’ll find it saves money to ship it a few thousand miles rather than cost.

LR has been subsidizing US sales from UK and EU margin for a long time 🙄

not surprised, Australian pricing is comparable to the UK, my Spec (P400 SE) in the US is a good $25K USD less
than what I paid in OZ even taking into account an average US Sales tax of around 9-10% Laughing LR love to price
to what they believe the market will "bear/tolerate" Whistle yet another pommie bar steward down under

Am i right in thinking that many US dealerships mark up the retail prices as well?

quite a few reports on the Defender FB user groups of dealers asking for substantial $$$ over
the MSRP sticker price.. apparently all part of the "supply/damand" market forces at work in the US.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

despite spec level names being the same either side of the pond, the toy count is not always the same making this kind of comparison difficult

that notwithstanding historically the US has always had a better deal, sticker price wise than us in the UK Rolling Eyes Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

LR used to put it down to “market conditions” in the USA ie they had to price lower in the USA or the cars would be too expensive compared to other Marques in the same segments. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
