Good to know. Thank you. 'Natural' for now, but big changes afoot. Lots of stuff ordered (roll cage, roof rack, canopy etc) but stuck in UK. Removed, cleaned, replaced gaskets on Windscreen "hinges" Old ones were shot and leaking.
First test seems good so far, I may now have a dry cabin when it rains. |

Managed to get out and about a bit this weekend, so nice to be out on a beautiful day.
After getting fed up with the plastic fading, it's just over a year since I coated the front light surrounds and grill in Raptor to match the side steps, sills and rear bumperettes, and they are good now as the day I did them. Assuming that you mean the roundish cover that is in line with the input shaft, no, you don't need to drain the oil.

Got hacked off with the awful fir tree clips so broke out the drill and rivnut gun, m6 rivnuts and some temporary dodgy jdm washers.... but such a better set up.

Sadly not, the original engine did 381,500 before the head cracked in 3 places which then aqua locked number 3 piston and bent the big end on the conrod This engine that is in Millie had already done 165,000 miles and now with just under 19,000 miles more on it, going is good so far 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. I’ve been busy with the hand tools this past few days.
A while back I bought a used LR cargo barrier. When I tried to fit it, I discovered some essential brackets were missing. After a long desperate and fruitless search for replacement brackets I bit the bullet and ordered another cargo barrier (with its full complement of brackets) from Duckworths. It still bugged me that I had a perfectly sound cargo barrier forlornly taking up space in my garage. Which brings me back to the start of my post. I ordered some 3mm mild steel sheet and with the aid of CAD (cardboard aided design) I embarked upon making up the missing brackets myself. Apologies to the fellow member for repeating his recently used CAD gag. Here we are near the start... Click image to enlarge I’ve never done much with metal so it was a slow learning process... I had considered a flat bracket on stand off spacers but in the end I persevered to get the original style. Click image to enlarge Here we are after painting. I had a senior moment and made a schoolboy error (as CJ might have said in Reggie Perrin). On one of the double fold brackets I elongated the bolt holes on the “legs” horizontally instead of vertically. However, it still fits fine so no harm done - except to my OCD. |
