Painting Plastic Window Trim
I'm wondering whether it is feasible to paint the plastic window trims in my 110SW. The only reason I have for this is simply for a colour change to black. The trims are all out of the vehicle at the moment as I'm doing other work. If i do paint them, i would be using rattle cans. Has anyone had a go at this and can offer any feedback please?

It should be perfectly doable but make sure that you start with some proper plastic primer. Darren

I have done exactly this to one of my previously owned Defenders.
As has been pointed out, I used a plastic primer then a bumper plastic paint, the only thing
I didn’t like is that the finish was too shiny.

I have just purchased a plastic restorer in black from Frost.co.uk.
The chap I spoke to stated that it was a Matt finish.

I haven’t used it yet but am hopeful.
It is more expensive than some of the others that can be bought from various outlets but if it gives me more of a factory finish then I think it will be worth it ( for me )

I’m sure there will be others with their own thoughts on the subject but I have tried a number of products over the years and they all seem to come out in a shiny finish which is fine if that’s what you are after.

The way I look at it is one possibly two cans against the price of a full set of interior trims is a choice I am happy with.

Thank you Darren. I’ll give this a go. There’s a couple of unused plastic primer aerosols in my garage from some project or other that’s now long forgotten! I’ll re-purpose those from whatever it was I originally bought them for Laughing

Interesting option. Thank you. I’ve bought other things from Frost previously. I’ve just seen Halfords have a black vinyl top coat but it’s satin. The Frost product is matt which I prefer Thumbs Up

Just to add, make sure you give it a good wash, then sand it to give it a decent key.
Then wipe down with panel wipe or something to get it super clean.

Should work a treat Thumbs Up

I used Buzzweld PIO on mine. (Plastic in one)
Looks a million time better than the dull grey. Keyed any scratched areas and then gave it a few light coats. Thumbs Up
