Replacing window hinges
I have a 2011 Defender 90 hardtop - the window "hinges" are corroding and paint is peeling off - a common problem I understand? I could replace the hinges but I see that there is an option for a plastic cover that you clip on to the original hinge (see attached screenshot). Any views on whether or not this is a worthwhile option? Thanks.

It's certainly a cheap option and I can see the appeal but it's only masking the problem. I'd prefer to fix it properly, to be honest. Darren

The hinges bridge a big aluminium windscreen frame to large steel bulkhead and are made of ali . its a cathode/ anode corrosion problem made worse because LR don't paint the hinges before fitting to the truck so the underside isnt painted and moisture can get in under the paint at the join and moisture is required for anode corrosion...I personally would buy LR replacements and paint them all over and fit a rubber seal and refit .....keep the moisture out and you wont get to see the hinges corrode before your eyes.
