When you say the vcv will sort itself out over time if you don’t do a relearn, what does this mean?

It self learns, to peak performance characteristics over so many miles.

I simply fitted mine, simple as that and job done and she runs better and has ever since with better performance too.
No issues at all, and so have many many others done exactly the same.

I was hesitant myself at first, but it’s not a problem at all. I did mine a year and a half ago and about 20k I’ve done since then.

If you prefer you can always get it fitted for you and have the relearn done, if this is LR I doubt they’ll fit anything but LR Genuine parts a significantly more expensive part plus labour fees etc.

I did mine myself with the PFJones VCV, for about £40. No programming, no issues. Performance is great.
I have been out the last few days and thought how well she pulls, especially in higher gears.
And the idle is smoother.

Fitted mine on the drive, a bit tricky with big hands but not so bad, no issues at all with it relearning itself and much smoother from the start so can only get better 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey

I have done 4 of them. 1 i did the relearn the others did it over time. I have also had one duff VCV, in that once fitted vehicle wouldnt start. refitted old one and it started again.

the white smoke could just be glowplugs not 100% and its cold. i have 3 2010 defenders they all smoke on cold starts with cold ambient. (but dont have the irratic idle!) Cheers
