Can’t see why residuals should be an issue (basic spec aside), it wasn’t for the Discovery.

When the 90 HT had a PCP option on the configurator its residuals were nearly £10k lower than a similarly specced 90 SW making the SW appear a far more attractive buy. Not really any logic to it. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Hopefully you’ll hear back in mid March. Just not saying which mid March!

Looking on the LANDROVER site and comparing their contract hire prices for 90 Hardtop vs Station Wagon, the Station wagon is £470/mnth whereas the hardtop is £497 over the same period.
Given that the cost of each vehicle is roughly similar, it would suggest LR are working on a slightly higher depreciation for the HT but only to the tune of 5% over 4 years. |

Or they just think people will pay more as the road tax is less, and there's Bik benefits?

Getting the VAT back might be a consideration for GRVs, perhaps (don’t have any experience of vehicle financing)?

Maybe they factored in having the rear plastics all knackered or scratched to pieces after 3 years of commercial use lowering the used value Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

The explanation I was given was, for my use as a private buyer rather than business, as I would have to pay the VAT on the HT the next owner can’t claim it back and therefore it’s seen as being less desirable and dealers will pay less for it. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

That makes no sense J77. I’m no expert but if you pay the VAT the next buyer doesn’t have to so the fact that they can’t claim it back has no relevance as they won’t have paid it in the first place. If anything I would say it makes it more desirable as it makes better financial sense to private owners AND business users.

Makes no sense to me either but I didn’t pursue the idea as I wasn’t paying more for less, even though the 90HT looks 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I see the logic as one of the reasons the HT will sell is that businesses can claim the vat back. A business buyer would have little interest in a 2nd hand ht if they couldn't reclaim the vat on the purchase. |
