130 with 5/6 seats will be the right form factor to take on the premium pickup trucks (which generally come with canopies)
Coming from this genre, the tub+canopy space was cavernous but not that good with long stuff which had to hang out the back. Folding down row 2 seats in a 130 will be an improvement on that because it will have internal capacity for length too. And if the 130 comes with a clamshell rather than a rear door then you can still hang stuff out of the back too! Win/win! Clearly down the track they're not going to get second lives with the unruly members of society in africa/middle-east as gun ships like the Hilux but nevertheless still a capable platform. I'm not going to spoil this thread with random pictures of sh*t in the back of my pickup truck but all I'll say Derek you're barely trying with that photo, good as it is! But I will add this one, not my truck or actually even my photo, but do you remember passing this pickup Derek? Yep, remember those, happy days indeed. Mind you that pickup is only playing at it cf some of the regular Tunisian cars waiting for the ferry in Marseille.

Large three-row SUVs are a big deal in the US.

Yep, the Defender 130 is the perfect soccer mom car. It'll sell like hot gluten free brownies. WARNING.

I listened again to the Investor day, and the quote on the time line was not 18 months but "12 to 18 months", so, although late, it may be sooner than later.

I wonder if we will start seeing mules on the road at some point. 12-18months is tricky for me about to order another D5 for September but I could bail on the order and tell them to keep the deposit.
A 130 with tailgate would make up for the monumental cockup that they made with the D5 vs D3/4. If I could get a decent spec HSE 130 for say £75k they would sell at least one in the uk - would be the perfect car for the dogs as per the D3 ours don't fit in a 110 and are a bit snug in the D5. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |
