Would this solve a whole host of issues, like minor dents and galvanic corrosion?

The exterior body panels of LEVC products are built from a tough Sheet Moulded Composite (SMC) material which is lighter, more flexible & far more resilient against light dents & knocks than a traditional steel panel. #SustainableInnovation #ElectricVehicles https://t.co/oc9KTBYmpt https://twitter.com/LondonEVCompany/status...89728?s=20 |

The guys are using something similar: "The polypropylene body panels are moulded in the required colours on site, removing the need for expensive paint shops or stamping machines." 2011 CSW XS 90 |

That could be a winner. Looking forward to seeing how they progress with that. WARNING.

... seems so
![]() Usually automotive light-weight production involves rather large machines such as this 3,600 ton press (force not weight). https://www.engelglobal.com/fileadmin/_mig...tory_1.jpg ![]() |

That's reminding me of Smart and the self-coloured plastic (actually polypropylene) panels they have been using for many years (13+). 15% off the vehicle's weight and the material is fully recyclable. And there used to be quite a market in swapping panels out and changing the colour of your car. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Cool, I didn't know that. My dad has a Smart sitting in the garage. It's a blinding lime green, so nobody wants it
