Sheet Moulded Composite (SMC) material
Would this solve a whole host of issues, like minor dents and galvanic corrosion?

First-in-sector.
The exterior body panels of LEVC products are built from a tough Sheet Moulded Composite (SMC) material which is lighter, more flexible & far more resilient against light dents & knocks than a traditional steel panel.

The guys are using something similar:

That could be a winner. Looking forward to seeing how they progress with that. WARNING.

... seems so Sad But it's worth looking at. Their small machines look interesting.
Usually automotive light-weight production involves rather large machines such as this 3,600 ton press (force not weight).

Shocked Good news is, they are very aware of environmental impact and there's ongoing research on resource consumption and complete life cycle of materials.

That's reminding me of Smart and the self-coloured plastic (actually polypropylene) panels they have been using for many years (13+). 15% off the vehicle's weight and the material is fully recyclable.

And there used to be quite a market in swapping panels out and changing the colour of your car.

Cool, I didn't know that. My dad has a Smart sitting in the garage. It's a blinding lime green, so nobody wants it Laughing Will look into body panels to swap Smile
