Horn is too loud. 🎺

I have quite a few narrow country lanes around here and with the lockdown there are many people walking in the road.
I never had an issue with my TD5. Now with the D300 MHEV 6 pot engine, they can’t hear me when I’m behind, so I try to give a gentle toot on the horn, but OMG! It’s like the Queen Elizabeth coming into port!

You could get closer to them, then use the horn.

ha ha first world problems - if people can't adhere to the Highway Code (and yes it applies to walkers) then they're going to get a bit of shock! no sympathy!

One of the things that I have always liked about my previous LR's is that you can "toot" the horn when you need to.

So many modern cars seem to have a "all or nothing" button.

All my D4's were great so I have high hopes when my new 90 arrives.... D5. Previously 90HT, D4, D4, D4, D2, D1 (3 door V8!)

Yes why do pedestrians go with the traffic, self preservation says you want to see the danger approaching you so you can take evasive action....

To be fair, it was a single track road with grass verge so walking against the traffic is not possible. Also, I do know it’s marked as a ‘quiet lane’ at each end, with blue sign showing car, bike, horse, pedestrian so I suppose I can’t complain about people walking in the road.

I’m just pointing out that the new Defender is so quiet for a diesel. The horn is not like the old Defender (or Disco) which you could give a quick parp. The new one has a firmly sprung centre to the steering wheel which you can’t easily give a brief toot, you have to press quite firmly and it lets out a mighty blast. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

There is actually 2 horns...

One each side of the radiator area at the top.
