It’s a baley, but SWMBO keeps insisting to wash some China stuff in it and it’s full constantly of stuff that means my plastic undertrays don’t fit at present. It’s a 45cm so one of the narrow ones also 😂 Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

Today’s work mainly been in the interior, as storage space was lacking first on the list was a glovebox
Click image to enlarge Once finished with that the center console got the treatment, m6x40 bots at the front and m6x50 for the rear fixings, the original m6x25 were not long enough. I do have a charging/socket to go into this, but it’s not arrived as of yet so currently that’s a future job Click image to enlarge Then to tackle the wheel, that was ok but did find it too large so reduced the side to a startek one. Click image to enlarge Confirmed after a short test drive much better than the LR original one that was fitted before. Next in the list is a double din head unit with car play, was hoping for some better Black Friday/cyber Monday deals but they have not occurred from what I have seen (prices actually gone up slightly) That may get left for xmas time now. Well an eventful day today.
Third time lucky at the local vehicle testing station here in Spain to get a towbar homologated to the car. Not as easy as in the UK. So here I needed certificate from the workshop the fitting instructions and then the killer part, a certificate from a proper engineer that that towbar would work on my car (towbars are made specific for a car and have to pass 55r regulation so this extra paperwork is paperwork for paperwork sake, that’s Spain though) So today was third go as first go I did not have the final certificate, second time they were on strike. So the prices took about 4 hours, most of that waiting for them to validate documents were correct, then the test of the car where they check the towbar has the correct number on it, and then back to the office to wait. I noticed that they put a note on my pass certificate that I could not tow trailers newer than 2011, so when asked them it was due to my electrics not having a reverse light feed, mine is a gen Landrover 13 pin so I knew I had that so after a little discussion about socket types and they confirming mine had a 13pin and not the 7pin that the inspector thought it had, they then had to amend some paperwork, more weighting and then got the pass letter, a new sticker and got told to go now to traffic office as needed to tell them of the change to category that I had also done on this inspection (changed from N1 to M1, mainly due to N1 here in Spain needs a test every 6 months but the M1 gets is annually) Towbar on and legal. So my plan for the next items was wheels and tyres most suppliers in the uk at present don't ship to Europe so that may have to wait a week or two till the rules are sorted.
And before you all ask the most likely is 265/65/18 on a 9”x18” rim. I did look at the 235/85/16 on a 9” wide 16” diameter rim but the authorities here say that’s not possible abs 235 is only up to a 7” wide rim... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So tyres mounted on the rims, next step see if i fit in the garage with them on. To take them home had to change the spare wheel for one of the twisted rims as the 5 twisted rims did not fit Click image to enlarge Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

Looking good. I’ll have to come and see the progress. My parents live near San Pedro during summer months and this year ’d like to visit Cadiz, Jerez, Seville and Cordoba with my wife this summer/when lockdowns are over. Monsieur Le Grenadier
