Hard top/pick up conversion.
Hi all.
virgin post from a newbie so be kind !
I’m about to embark on a bit of a lockdown project. I have a 300tdi hard top and about to purchase a td5 pickup.
I want to convert the 300tdi to a pick up and the Td5 to be my hardtop.

Couple of q’s really.

Has anyone done this type of change in either direction recently? What were your biggest issues? Did anything simply not fit?
Assuming I need to notify DVLA of the changes?
How faffy is it to run the electrics and water pipes for rear windscreen wipers and washer jets?
Presume the HT will be the easier of the 2 to put back together?

I’m no mechanic but hands on with most things in life 😁

That is, by and large, is an easy nut and bolt job in both directions.

The rear door electrics on the TD5 might be slightly complicated depending on its year - the wiper wiring changed significantly with the introduction of the later steel door in 2002 and I'm not sure how much of the loom will exist in the TD5 pick up. Not an insurmountable problem, though. Darren
