This is an excellent thread and deserves a sticky at the top of TD5 as I suspect a lot will be using it over the coming years.
This http://www.repairkitsuk.com/ is the website referred to for parts but you have to order through their Ebay shop, I have done and paid for fast delivery, I will update on the end result.

Starter motor out, not too difficult. Parts fitted and starter refitted. But. Starter turning over as if battery low even if a jump starter connected. So thinking that if one part is warn out probably all the others are as well. Only decision now is where to get a new starter from.

have checked battery neg lead from battery down to chasse and on the transfer box to start with

Did you check the grease in the gearbox part? Mine was also going slow until I replaced the very hard grease for multipurpose. Roel

2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts.
2003 90 Td5 (2009-now)

Checked the earth, ok. had checked the gearbox, ok. Took the whole thing out stripped down completely, blew out brushes, ran on bench ok with no load.
Time for a new one.
