On my Jaguar, if stop/start activates, and I then get out of the car, the act of undoing the seatbelt turns off the ignition. I can’t imagine why you would want it any other way, or some pikey would just get in and drive it away! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Doesn’t the 6cyl petrol have an MHEV system rather than stop/start??

Probably much trickier to disable?

Yes, the P400 is MHEV so I'm thinking it's going to be a little trickier to disable it. Ray

Putting it in P stops the engine unless the Auto Start/Stop has already done it for you. No need to press the stop button at all in my D240. Just opening the drivers door when stopped will also shut everything down. All you need to do is get out and lock it! Also now I’m used to the hold function for the brakes I haven’t used the parking brake switch in months and months - last time I was offroad in low box and using TR, the brake didn’t automatically engage and I had to use the EPB switch down to the right of the steering wheel. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I can confirm that unplugging the connector shown does indeed disable the stop / start functionality on the D240.

I unplugged it this morning and now the stop / start disabled icon in the dash is permanently displayed.

That’s so the dealer instantly knows the warranty is void so they don’t have to waste their time plugging it in to the computer Whistle

It is extremely unlikely that unplugging something to disable the auto stop/start feature would affect the warranty, especially on non-related items. Your earlier suggestion that after you have done this, the dealer cuts a main harness during a winch installation and you are left to foot the bill is preposterous, warranty has nothing to do with dealer negligence.

If JLR could demonstrate that a fault has occurred as a direct result of the disconnection of the auto stop/start then it is only to be expected that that would not be fixed at their expense, but there would be no legal basis to void the warranty for a fault in an unrelated system. You may well have to argue the point with some determination however since JLR's attitude to its customers is not always supportive.

I disabled the auto stop/start feature on my 2016 L405 almost a year ago and it's been to the dealer for a few issues covered under warranty. They have never even mentioned/noticed that the auto stop/start feature was disabled. Ray

IIRC JLR auto stop/start doesn’t work below 5C until the engine is at normal operating temperature. We’ve been below zero in this part of Central Scotland for a few days now and I’ve been using the remote start and climate control most days and from the off the auto stop/start has worked perfectly until I’ve left the car in an open air car park in town to go to the shops and when I have gone back to it the auto stop/start hasn’t cut in until the temperature gauge is back up to “normal”/ mid gauge even though the outside temperature is back up to +4C. My previous RRS’s Evoque’s and 2010MY were the same. The 2.7 and 3.6V8 both had remote pre-heating so I could warm them before driving away. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
