Remap or not !
Hi All.

I have a 2008 110 with remap. Im experiencing problems like a lot here in the forum with the car cutting off when driving up hill in 6th gear.

I have over the last couple of years tryed to fix the issue, but with no luck !

I have changed a lot of components and added some to try getting rid of the issue.

Yesterday i talked with a friend of mine who is working in the Danish Army as a mechanic about the issue. His oppinion is, since the problems with the car first started AFTER the Remap, that it would be better to get the original software back, as it seems something is not working in the remap.

So, im considering to get it remapped back to original software, although i love the extra power, but am very confused about it cutting of every time i go up hill.

What do you experts think of that ?

Best regards from Denmark Defender 110 Puma 2.4 tdci

I think given this is a widely reported problem it's probably not down to the remap, assuming it is from a reputable vendor. However, you can't be 100% sure with remap in place.

Maybe look at getting a new map that comes with an OBD tool that allows you to add and remove as required. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Bell auto will send you a gizmo to plug in and with the app will read what you have on there , you upload to pc and email the info to him and he can do what’s needed and email you a file back that you install etc

I did the remap with Celtic tuning. I dont know if you consider it a reputable vendor.

But my guess is there is something wrong if not done by proffessionals. Defender 110 Puma 2.4 tdci

Looking at Celtic Tuning website they will tune anything from a Tractor to a Lambo.
Pete Bell - Bell auto services specialises in Land Rovers, and having had his 170 +EGR delete tune on my 2.4 tdci for 80k+miles and it still puts a grin on my face Very Happy Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Your friend is right. If you needed a reliable car, you'd better avoid any surprises caused by 3rd parties' design approaches.

If it's just for fun / speed / power, well, give it a try & experiment some new kind of car design Wink

Alive for me. I wouldn’t touch any lesser known tuner except for Alive or BAS as leaders in the field. I’ve ran my tune for about 6 years now with zero issues at all. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

It could possibly be the culprit yes, putting the tube aside. The PF Jones ones are good. You can simply swap it and don’t need any programming or specialist equipment.

I did on mine and solved all the issues I ha e and brought a lot of power back.
She felt like she needed pushing all the time before and lacked high end power.
Your sun pots you’ve mentioned could simply be reversed, mine was cutting out in low gears. The VCV does do that and an erratic idle after very cold winter starting can also be a symptom but mild and disappears when warm.

I would try it if it’s over 5 years old, defiantly if it’s original. Mine was about 11 years old. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
