Try the interior illumination switch, which is down by the park brake.

Thanks J,
I asked on another group and was told to bend down a bit further! It’s not exactly obvious and you have to press it in and when it pops out turn it to adjust! ![]() 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. This illumination switch is not fitted to my Defender, I was convinced all the time.
Took a look again today. Magically it appeared... 😳 Last edited by Sepp on 21st Nov 2020 9:05am. Edited 1 time in total |

Good morning Simon- I haven’t tested it yet, if it’s dark enough later today to trigger dusk/ night lighting I’ll give it a go. Simon, it works in daylight but ............. it seems to have a fair bit of lag between turning the knob and dimming/ brightening happening. I’ll look after sunset again because I think that it was already on maximum brightness and that was really too dark even at night to see the info/sat nav screen between the dials. I have the same issue.
On a dark day, everything is very dim. The control dial is on maximum. Has been like it since new, so may be a dealer fix. Is the lux sensor in the centre front of dash? |

I now have both screens dim at the same time but the brilliance control has very little effect. I can see a tiny change in intensity but it’s still too dark to read at dusk after the screens have dimmed. Odd, the digital dash in my Velar has a black background and I’ve no issues viewing that at night. I would’ve thought the Defenders dash being blue would be more visible.

It’s not the dials but the info screen in the middle that is the issue
Thus is minimum brightness ![]() Click image to enlarge On Maximum ![]() Click image to enlarge Text is just as bad Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior.
