1993 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Aintree Green

Rear cross member holes

I am going to make myself some bumperettes and I have measured up the rear cross member and the number of holes is vast. Can anyone shed light as to what each of the holes intended purpose was. I have included a drawing that shows one side only and does not include any holes toward the centre for the tow bar.

The hoes with blue letters are 9.5mm diameter, and the ones with red letters are 12mm diameter.

Whilst I have measured the hole centres, I am open to comments if you think I have dimensioned them incorrectly.

A,b,h and i is for the rear "step" handle thingies that was on the older versions.

C and d is used for the support that fixes on to the bottom of the rear of the tub.
I think they will have a tube thingy inside the cross member to prevent the steel from collapsing.

A B + H I, are for the civilian 'grab handle' rear bumperettes -

C D + F G, are for the military rear bumperettes -

E + one you've missed on the body mounting tab, are for the military lifting/lashing shackle mounting -

J + K, are for the drop-down tailgate hinges -

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help.

I really could not figure out what these were all for, but when you see all the different equipment bolted on to these at some time it brings home the versatility of the truck!

I meant to say that I don't know what L and M are for, as I don't have those on my pre-Tdi crossmember -
