I have wondered why nobody in the 4x4 world has looked to the HDPE armour so common in the quad and SxS world. It looks like ARB have now done that:

It seems it's good enough for various types of off roaders from Dakar entrants down:
"I’m going to give this HDPE product a go from Axp Racing on my 300 Husky. Seen it on a few bikes now and decided to join the party.
