2016 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Santorini Black
[For Sale] 1951 Land Rover 80” 2.0 Petrol
I didn’t plan to write this advert, but then I didn’t plan on having two strokes over the last 4 weeks at 42yrs ! No risk factors has the medical trade confused, but while the paralysis has gone, the vision loss hasn’t. Long term my job and driving are unlikely to survive the episode.

So I want to convert the garage into a gym and re build my body strength and focus. A Land Rover parked in there is taking up space and reminding me that I cannot drive. So here goes:

For Sale. 1951 Land Rover 80” 2.0 petrol.

A remarkable survivor in highly original and untouched off-farm condition. Built on August 14th, 1951 and registered in October the same year by Attwoods of Stafford to its first owner of some six years, Venables Timber Merchants Stafford, an old established firm. The Land Rover then moved to a rural country inn near Rhyader before going onto two large farms near Hereford. The little Series 1 then belonged to a garage in Hereford before being sold to its last owner who kept and treasured it on his farm and country estate at the edge of the Brecons. The vehicle was found on his passing in 2014 in one of the barns with one of the owners two airworthy tiger moths that had been on either side of it since 1989! This is quite an amazing history for this wonderful Land Rover’s working life as they were intended for. The vehicle still retains its original Staffordshire registration number and plates which are transferrable although that would be a shame after 69 years. Unbelievably the interior, although worn, is in complete (as rarely found) and very original. The engine is matching numbers as is the chassis with the original radiator date stamps 7/50. The chassis has never been welded and astonishingly neither has the bulkhead. The indicated mileage of 46850 is believed correct. The wonderful addition of the original buff logbook details the fascinating working history as described. The V5 is in my name showing the previous ownership record. The patination is just right for a working Landrover. Remember they are only original once.

On purchase I began a sympathetic recommissioning due to the basis that the original vehicle provided. This included autosparks loom, radiator recore, entirely new brakes and brake pipes, swivels and seals, tubes and tires, a small amount of welding to offside doorpost and the usual distributor cap, leads, plugs etc. to have her running sweet. All fluids including engine, gearbox, transfer box, diffs and swivels have been completed. The original hoodsticks and sand tilt are included and in very good condition. The vehicle has an insurance company agreed value of £35,000 and the price reflects excellent value for such an original vehicle.

My plans for 2021 were a carb rebuild although I didn’t want to lose the patina! She runs well but they always run even better once done. I also would replace\re seat the offside swivel seal which drips a little. The engine also now has an original air filter metal cone inlet after much searching!

Crikey. Hope it’s a short term hiccup and you’ll be fine. It sure puts things into perspective.
Good luck with both, as above.

Shocking news, you take care of yourself! Speedy recovery. Thinking positively, is it worth putting in storage, until your health is 100% in a short while? James

I feel privileged to have seen it with you Si, and I know how much you love it. It needs to go to a 'purist' such as yourself and not be 'mucked about' with!
Probably worth saying that Mrs W won't want another 130 in PX Laughing
