Here is the UK instruction page from the iGuide. It’s in 2 sections because it’s a long page in the iguide. It seems that you have to unlock the piece you describe before removing it to fit into the receiver. Your dealer should be able to show you how to set it up.

That also confused me. It is a bit of effort once the key is in to hold the tower and turn the green part until the locking balls retract far enough for the piece you refer to to move allowing the tow bar to engage - so follow the instructions sent to you by the other posters. Don't cut the plastic bit off.
