Edit: The next question is......... would this be legal in the EU?

definitely illegal to fit that. whether the police or vosa would give a toss is another matter. and if you read the last sentence below, if your vehicle is pre may 07, if you fitted an aftermarket one or not wouldnt really mattter, but a vehicle manufactured post that date, the person stopping you could easily check.

then again, Lorryman was just being helpful to someone so dont shoot the messenger Laughing

From 25th May 2007 for motor vehicles categorised as M1 (a passenger carrying vehicle not exceeding 3.5 tonnes and not more than 8 passengers) or N1 (a goods vehicle not exceeding 3.5 tonnes) it will only be legal to manufacturer and sell bull bars that comply with EU Directive 2005/66/EC. ie approved plastic ones

It will be illegal to manufacture and sell bull bars that do not conform to this legislation punishable by a maximum penalty, to be imposed within the UK, of 12 months imprisonment and/or a fine of £20,000.

Operators of vehicles already fitted with these devices will not be affected

Unless you have a winch fitted that "could" be used for work or sport purposes Thumbs Up
This has been done to death, do a search. You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

I have no interest in fitting one of these, or a winch for that matter. However I can recall reading a post on here where the question was asked, where can I get one? Also the EDIT was rhetorical on my part..... sorry should have added that Embarassed

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Unfortunately that is a completely illegal operation. If it was surplus stock manufactured before 2007 it would be all above board, but because it was manufactured after 2007 and imported in it is against the law.

I had to trawl for ages to find my TJM bars. I approached a few non-EU countries and they confirmed they had new stock, but also knew the law and would not send it to a EU country (I wouldn't want the fine or imprisonment either).

ANY bars need to be pre-2007.

or

Protection for a winch (a full ARB/TJM/Kudu bar is way out of this category).

Just checked the site. Noticed some side runners for a 110. Price seems very good compared to the official price.Have a look, they are down as "side steps". If I did not have fold up steps I could be tempted. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
