Hello Gentlemen,
I just purchased a 2008 Defender Pickup 2.4 90 and I am very pleased overall with the cars condition, except for the driving character which is a bit awkward compared to my 2.2 Defender. The car when driving off boost is very similar except above 2,000 rpm or higher rev's when I shift (the RPM hangs) also similar to when you let go off the clutch, I recently tuned it to 165BHP BAS remap and its improved its power delivery and torque. I am frequently hearing about either changing the clutch switch or alternating the clutch switch which is easier than replacing the unit, is there a step by step tutorial or video which would assist me ? Thank you in advance, 2016 Defender 90 Adventure Edition |

Yeah, itโs fairly common it tends to happen gradually rather than all of a sudden and tends to get worse.
Can make for a very fishy driving experience. I run mine with a bridged clutch switch permanently and much prefer it overall. And behaves better in low range too. Plug and play so if you donโt like it bridged you can swap straight back with no loom modifications.

I am a bit confused can you send me photos and links to parts that I would require ?
I would like it to be a fairly clean looking installation and not having to butcher with electrics. 2016 Defender 90 Adventure Edition |

2 pole connectors available here https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/mob...category/7
and some 1mm2 or 1.5mm2 thin wall wire ideally in black only need around 10cm if that. (1m typically can be bought). Buy a 2 pole female housing and seal the rear entries as a blank for fitting on the clutch switch left in situ. Buy a male 2 pole connector, and connector pins for this inc seals. This connects to the female socket on the LR loom, tie to the side and job done. Youโd crimp a wire loop across the two pins (on the make connector). to bridge and create a closed circuit. This is also sealed. Crimps can be made with non insulated crimpers or if in a push needle nose pliers. The clutch switch is located just above the clutch fluid reservoir cap, which is toward the bulkhead LHS looking under the bonnet backwards. You release the female connector by pushing down on the metal bar and it will then release. Simply secure the male connector plugged into the LR female loom with a little zip tie. Hope that helps.

What does this achieve, Steve? Have this occasionally, but thought the clutch was on its way out. Which it is. Also a 2.4. Worth doing? Monsieur Le Grenadier

Is this the switch?
MSK500020 https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-MSK500020 Mine hangs too, I thought it was all the other crap that's going on but I might as well order a switch while I'm throwing money at it (anyone would think I have an MOT due this month!). |
