Yesterday the 90 would not start. My daughter phoned home looking for advice but I was not here. She lives away from home. So she phoned someone local who gave her the number of a garage which they said was nearby. She was in a stable yard in the country . She explained her situation to the garage man. "Probably an immobiliser problem or the fuel pump" was the over phone diagnoses. Anyway a few minutes later the tow truck landed. The driver got out and said "Ah, a 300 tdi, probably a loose wire". Anyway he winched it aboard and took the 90 and my daughter to his garage. They yard was nicely packed with Land Rovers, seems he services and does rebuilds. Anyway someone came for my daughter and took her away. A while later her phone rang.
"Your Land Rover is fixed" came the voice "It was a loose wire". My daughter asked "How much do I owe you" expecting the worst. "£60 "CAME THE REPLY. So that covered the call out, tow truck and repairs. Anyway I phoned the garage today after work and thanked him for helping my daughter and for not fleecing her on price. She is away from home so she was vulnerable. Anyway we spoke Land Rovers for a while and I have arranged for him to do some work on my daughter's 90. The rear crossmember needs replacing, timing belt and some other stuff. That saves her coming all of the way back here, besides where she is has been placed in lock down. The offending loose wire was some after market fitting to the alarm. So a blessing in disguise. My daughter now has someone relatively near to her incase she needs help with the 90. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

That's what you would pay for a main dealer to plug in Testbook and read a DTC. |
