But it's false news ~ so you either place a qualifier when posting or take the hit for repeating it. You can't be offended for having that pointed out to you in a neutral matter of fact way.
N1 classification and VAT is a nonsense to most people who don't get to claim it back in any event. The story could have easily been spun the opposite way and a price starting with a 4, after N1 classification and deduction of VAT could be a headline of Grenadier to come in at £33k undercutting DEFENDER and adding to it's woes. Plenty of people have speculated on the selling price for the Grenadier, some think/want it low so they can buy, some think/want it high for their own reasons... that's man maths at it's best. |

I can see how that may appear long winded if your attention span is not up to retaining more than half of one fact at a time.
Rant - no - just a rebuttal of a piece of tosh journalism. |

A bit nervous butting in here after that.
I haven't come across mention of a SWB anywhere so am I correct in assuming there is no plan for one? I think it would be a shame not to have one in the range. |

IMHO, it looks like a not quite right imitation of the original defender. I doubt the old or new defender have anything to worry about. I would save some money and buy a used defender...or two.

Well
I've recently just had the chance of meeting with a neighbours boyfriend who designs where the switches etc go inside cars... Guess what he's working on...yep The Grenadier So we chatted, he hasn't seen it but he has all the cad files, and dashboard 'look' He said normally they have to do several version in the range, this is odd, he said as he has two options RHD and LHD. The range will have the same. He showed me a very rough render on his phone, being honest it could have been the old defender... Binical in front of driver sort of ipad sized (no dials or any detail just block pictures) then to the middle almost like a double din upgrade in some TDci's there is the 'informatics' screen, in a 16:0 wide format. Then under this was the switch gear buttons like the tdci, on the other side was a grab handle.... like the defender and g wagon. He did say the dash will be plane with 'lines" almost retro and the interior will be able to hosed out. All are automatic but he was not sure if it will have flappy paddles behind the steering wheel. Looks like I will give him a few more weeks then have to have some drinks to find out more |

If offered keys to those 5, the Grenadier would be my last pick. WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

More photos from the event:
Click image to enlarge And an article: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/ineos-grenadier-2021 Seems they forgot about the new factory but there's a few nuggets in there: Ecuyer admitted to plenty of debate about the Grenadier’s rear-end design: for a long time, the team were settled on a classic split tailgate, before deciding late in the day on the big-door-small-door layout. Tailgates can make vehicles hard to load or unload, said Ecuyer, and the swing-out spare wheel carrier would have been “a nightmare”. The small door can be opened before the large one to provide access to the space-saver tool compartment that’s innovatively pressed into its skin below the glass." And given the recent debate on the visibility of rear lights with doors/spare wheels: " The round tail-lights “share a common language” with the round headlights and are mounted ideally on the extra space provided by the body shoulder, happily where modern law requires them to be visible. “They’re the result of a very practical problem,” said Ecuyer, “not a wafty sketch in a cafe somewhere…” Last edited by Supacat on 4th Sep 2020 4:48pm. A while back I commented that the alloy wheels on the Grenadier looked like Mopar Jeep wheels.
Now these steel wheels (pictures above) also look like Mopar rims, Mopar 52124455AB 17x7.5" Winter / Off-Road Steel Wheel https://www.quadratec.com/products/92702_106_07.htm A smart move by Ineos to use a size and pattern the has extensive aftermarket options. |
