we left the UK in 2005, so they must have been "discussing" the subject of banning bull bars.. rather than
implementing the act at the time yet another pommie bar steward down under

a number of LR products, such as the full fat, Rangie sport etc, that Tim mentioned allow you to option up the
Gear change Paddle shifts, so you can keep your hands on the wheel and still manually change the
gears up or down via the steering column mounted shifters.. They are not a feature nor an option
on the new Defender, the design team are on video somewhere stating they did not fit with the
vehicles "design ethos" yet another pommie bar steward down under

I have just viewed the Defender option list,....it's only just become available on line in Aus,...I reckon it'd be the biggest/longest option list that I have ever seen for ANY car.

You can keep it simple Pickles, i just spec'd: from the factory the tow pack, e-diff, roof rails, tracker,
5+2 seats and some cosmetics such as black pack and black contrast roof..

a few bits from the dealer fitting side to get it ready for touring.. such as wheel arch protection, fixed side
steps, roof rack, ladder (wife is very short Smile ) and all round rubber mats i basically ignored everything else.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

That does look good - would be interesting to know why they have not covered the lower control arms?

Thank you for the explanation. The posts make make more sense now!
So even though it has an automatic gearbox you can use "paddles" to manually change gear? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Yes, it operates as a sequential manual gearbox so you can hold gears right up to the Rev limiter and then it will automatically move up a gear. Some systems one paddle is an up shifter and the other a down shifter and in others you can push the paddle away from you to. Are a downshift and pull it towards you for an up shift. In Land Rivers paddles assisted cars I’ve owned if you don’t touch a paddle for a minute or so then the gearbox reverts to a fully automatic
The new Defender gear box does it using the shifter on the centre console, in D or S you move the shifter to the left across the “gate” and it becomes a spring loaded manual shift lever - but JLR in their strange way of thinking added a confusion by making it so you push the lever forwards to go down a gear and back to go up a gear........ in RRS I’m sure it was the other way around! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

A question for those who have made the leap - do you still get a free LR Experience day when you buy a new vehicle?

I’m so glad I didn’t have the opportunity to tick the wrap box, that looks like it might be a bit hard to clean.
The link doesn’t state what the full spec is but as mine is that car without the wrap and cost £61500 with front alloy bash plate, the full Monty security system and the rubber boot mat, they seem so be over charging by a huge margin as the wrap is a £3700 option IIRC........... there must be some unlisted options to increase the price to £69,800. They have added the matte grey wheels and the Duratrac AT’s at £3700 for 4 upgraded matte grey wheels with £1000 for 5 Duratracs and the car doesn’t have the off-road pack because it isn’t an option on the First Edition although the e-diff is. So how do they get it to just shy of £70k and with almost 3000 miles on it it’s definitely a used car!

Addition: the deAler has also painted all the silver colour bumpers and trim in matte black or have been following PowerfulUK’s videos and been trying out the Raptor spray crackle finish paint job. They must be desperate to shift it in the next week so that they can justify having all their demos on 70 plates on Sept 1............ Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
