It does look nice though I’d prefer a modern take on the Heritage Edition, Grasmere Green wrap, steel wheels.
It’s better than this monstrosity, it’s been reduced twice, was well over £60k now down to £58k. Click image to enlarge |

Seems odd that it's missing the lower protection loops seen on an earlier prototype, especially as the area behind contains radiators for various models. Click image to enlarge |

trying to work out whether it has been designed to possibly meet their commitments to pedestrian safety as well as provide a modicum of protection. Not sure if the LR bull bar (tube) has had real world testing and can provide the level of protection to the vehicle and passengers, which means : a), the front of the vehicle maintains integrity when there is a large Roo strike and b), will keep driving with minimal damage.. I will wait it out and see what ARB, TJM and OL bring to market in terms of bull/winch bar in the next 12 months, I suspect it will be anything between 30-40% of the current price I was given verbally by my dealer for the LR Bar and Winch and the after market suppliers here will ensure it is specifically designed for local applications yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

Wondering if the bar is available in UK/EU markets or is specifically for the Oz/Row markets.
It seems our (UK/EU) regulations for the sale of bull bars make the fundamental purpose of them almost impossible with the commitment "that they do not pose an additional risk of injury to pedestrians or other vulnerable road users." And unhelpfully, the Guidance Note does not reference what the "compliance with specified safety standards" actually are? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bull-bars/bull-bars |

i dug out some brief info from the local State govt regulations, it is clear the Bull bar is designated as
a Vehicle Front Protection system, VFPS. which most probably by its nature is opposed to pedestrian safety when you think about the application . On social media (FB) the LR launch manager states they have been designed for the Australian and US markets. I do remember when we lived in the UK that bull bars where banned, not sure how far that legislation is widespread in the EU, but assume pretty much uniform and enforced in the "Western EU states" yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

You still see bull bars on older ex4’s here Zilch, just you cannot buy a new car with one fitted, I believe there isn’t a problem with fitting one after you’ve driven out of the showroom. Not sure if there are any MOT requirements about having one fitted when you do an MOT.. From the .gov link above: "However, since 25 May 2007, it has been an offence for bull bars that have not been approved as compliant with those safety standards to be sold." It is clear from this statement it is about the selling, rather than the fitting. However I do not know the actual legislation behind the guidance, so it may vary. That said, insurance companies seem to have no problem with "bullbars" on post 2007 vehicles. It is even listed as an option on insurance Comparison sites and will return results with such a mod declared. There are also many companies in the UK selling and fitting winch bumpers and bullbars to post 2007 vehicles. |

Thanks. Hope you took my other comments with the pinch of salt that they deserved. Re: the Terrain Response, sadly no I didn't get time to fully explore all of it. And tbh I didn't even know you have to manually turn off the DSC when in low range. My Jimny does this automatically for you when you select low. So I just assumed the Defender would do likewise, as I can't really fathom when it would be useful off road. I'm also not knocking the underlying tech of Terrain Response, being able to adjust the throttle response and how much diff lockup (to preserve steering) all sound great in principle. But I do honestly think it is way too complex to be of any real practical use these days. And it's not as if I'm a novice to tech or off roading. My day to day job is software related. But I grew up on a farm and have been around Land Rover trials vehicles since the mid 1980s. As well as driving many different types of tractors and agricultural machinery. |

IIRC DSC is only automatically disabled in Rock Crawl mode, but I would have to check that. The button for it is a press/press button with an icon of a skidding car on it and the text “off” below it just to the left of the gear selector. You would think that DSC would be automatically be disabled in Mud and Ruts mode where you are likely to be both wellying the throttle and “sawing” the steering wheel to try to get some grip from the tyre sidewalls - which on road would make the computer / eco think that you were about to have a crash and would cut the power quite severely..
I suspect the only reason for not having a rotary controller for the TR is to allow one centre console that remains there even when you spec the centre jump seat. Not something I would ever want to travel on with such cramped leg/ knee room when it is in use.
