genuine LR surround but with the original holes filled / painted..........then a Zunsport grill (bought from here s/hand)
longer term both the mesh grill and the aircon rad, etc. behind cold do with a light tidy up to be 100% more to suit myself than any real issue |

Fitted the X Defend steering lock protector today - followed LRA's post (thanks Darren!) and from our forum shop, the dummy OBD socket. Rgds.

Started fitting the side opening tailgate kit from Purely Metal.....
The fitting to go over the anti luce needed filing for 30 minutes to get to fit, and the holes for the bolts are too small. The holes in the left hand fitting are too low so need adjustment. Maybe the fixings on the tailgate are odds and sods and not original. Regardless it was tremendously irritating trying to do a 15 minute job and not get close.... Perhaps this should be in the grumpy old man thread....😤 |

Decided to finally fit my Anderson connector...
Click image to enlarge ...which meant splitting the winch...why is nothing straightforward. Anyway, at least I could get the winch and winch tray nice and clean Click image to enlarge. Then realised the tails weren’t long enough to mount the socket where I wanted

The original side sills were showing signs of wear, ie not. a lot of paint left on them! so decided I couldn't make it any worse so I'll have a go at refurbing.
I'm not overkeen on a lot of chequer plate, so I didn't want it to just look stuck on, so I thought I would do the whole of the sills. Got the original ones off, prepped them all up and coated in Raptor. It worked really well on my fire & ice black side steps so it should be OK. Got a new set of decent chequer plate sills to go over the top, prepped these and applied Rator again. Will wait for a week for it all to go off and then put it all back again, should look a lot better, and will match the side steps and bumperettes. Will post pics when finished but here are the parts. It feels good at the moment Rosco, but its the injection pump ( used one )that is the worry at the moment, as it has not been used in a while, i will have to blow the cobwebs out a bit longer and see how she goes

Got all the refurb on the original side sills done as well as the new chequer plate. Very happy with how it's turned out - looks so much better than missing paint.
As with all things LR nothing is straight! so to fill the 2mm gap I used the self expanding waterproof tape to give a nice neat finish between the two parts. Just got the get the old bolts out of the floor panels now so I can add a stainless sill protector then these can go back on

After fitting a new fuel pump, new injector loom, injector seals, and having the injectors reconditioned, the TD5 is back on the road and pulling hard.
Should be good for another 100k now |
