Before the Mustang was finally bought to the UK with the corrected steering position there was a company near-ish me that was importing Mustangs directly from the US.
So you never know........... |

Noises out of Ford suggest they may be open to be persuaded to bring it over here ~ or at least Europe.
However, the chief designer makes reference to European tyre coverage & pedestrian impact regulations they don't have in the US, which frees the design up. Last edited by Supacat on 17th Jul 2020 5:47am. Edited 1 time in total |

Click image to enlarge Also thought these models looked Defender like? Click image to enlarge And they are ~ with a Unimog thrown in for good measure: Click image to enlarge Interesting that he says he had no emotional resonance with the vehicle at the start. Something you could accuse McGovern of in spades; but possibly not just at the start but all the way through his project. Great video, really interesting to listen to a designer who has such a great understanding of the brief. |

I like the fact that he was saying that they want owners to be able to take the vehicle apart with a normal tool kit and all those exposed bolts will enable owners to easily modify or add accessories.
They really want this to be an enthusiasts car.. |

Is Easter Eggs just an American thing? Ford talking about it, seen it on Jeeps and I know it's a thing with Tesla.

Yes, I heard it before in connection to TV programmes like the Walking Dead.
Little snippets that the average person would miss but for those willing to look will be rewarded. For example on the Walking Dead a character was collecting car number plates, a plate he was given was the same one pulled from the shark in Jaws. In another scene there was a car used by the main character in Breaking Bad. With the Bronco, could it already be wired to take extra accessories such as light bars so instead of making your own loom, undo the Bronco bolts and plug it in. The designer said that they are expecting owners to modify their trucks and have made it workable on your driveway using normal garage tools. On Jeeps, it's where you will find the Jeep logo on the vehicle. We will have to wait and see... |

"An Easter egg, in automotive terms, is anything the automakers have added to a car as a bonus that’s usually hidden. In an allusion to the holiday tradition, it requires one to keep their eyes peeled to find these cool features."
Have a look here for some examples: https://www.hotcars.com/clever-easter-eggs...now-about/ |

We Defender owners don't need spider logos, because we have real spiders!
The easter egg thing started in the software world, where if you did the right sequence of actions extra features or other strange things would happen. I believe that the idea then migrated into things like DVDs and Blu-Ray disks, but I didn't realise it had arrived in cars. Could be fun though, press the brake pedal three times with the handbrake on and full left lock and the steering reverses direction, and and all that. |

The old RRS had a hidden menu option whereby you could leave the reversing camera on full time. Not sure it was truely an Easter egg or just a diagnostic mode.
