Chile 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
Can I install a Mantec TD5 snorkel in a Puma?
Well,

Some funds arrived and I'm looking to "invest" them in the Defender.
One of the things are the raise air intake. I have 2 alternatives (no more alternatives here in Chile, so no way other suppliers).

1.- Mantec for Puma
Pros: Ready to install, not modification needed
Cons: I dont like quite much (just an aesthetics thing)

2.- Mantec for TD5
Pros: A little bit less expensive
Better looking
Cons: Probably modification are needed.

Somebody know how much are needed to modify the TD5 raise intake to install in a Puma?
Somebody with experience on that that?

Thanks for the help! Eduardo

The "plastic jobby" doesn't fit with a roll cage so which Mantec intake have you gone for? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
+ New Defender 110 First Edition

I have gone for the LR mantec raised air intake which is the steel one with flex at the bottom- part nuimber '1-DSV5'. I am also looking into roll cages for her- so far I have been quoted:

Safety devices £1400 foir the cage with £1600 fitting
PPC £1500 for the cage with £800 for the fitting

those prices are plus VAT Sad. I think I might just go for the SD cage and fit it myself in the workshop- will just cost me a few beers for the guys to help.

Fortunatly for me the Girl friend doesn't really know anything about cars so when I start expalining shge just says "do yoiu really need it?" and of course I do!! Thumbs Up Three months to push and I will finnaly have her:DVery HappyVery HappyVery Happy

Stupid question.. but is there a snorkel that's out there that can be mounted to the 110 that needs no modification to the vehicle. I've been thinking of getting one but wondered if these things just plug in or something??? Maybe there's a link with pics showing how one is mounted..

Thanks in advance..

Not that I know of - all have to be screwed in (which means holes). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Good luck Eduardo with the Mantec.

While we are on the subject, I have just been given a new Safari Snorkel for the Puma. Never used it before, always had a local brand made here in São Paulo. Any one used one, any probelems, easy to fix, mods, etc?

Thanks
