I have to say that I'm surprised if that Twitter post was real, it does not appear to have been picked up my the mainstream media... Confused

Me too ~ if I lived in the States, I'd be hard pressed to pick a Defender over this.

I'm assuming all the "class leading" comments actually stand up?

Shame the video appeared to feature speeded up and CGI footage but I guess once embargo is off, lots of real world footage will follow.

Starts at $29,995 for a base two-door and $34,695 for the four-door Thumbs Up

And look at the skirts ~ nice, clean and simple, not loads of plastic trim that's going to get smashed off as JLR ISRAEL demonstrated:

... and factory rocksliders Thumbs Up

It's a completely different mindset exemplified by JLR talking about wheel sizes ~18, 19 or 20" and Ford talking about tyre sizes ~ 30, 32, 33, or 35". When Ford talk of wheels it's just to mention that they are black-painted and beadlock-capable!

Ford have done an amazing job here. Absolutely love it and the imagination that has put all these features together.

Land Rover really has blown it with the Defender.

Jerry, drive slowly, protect the alloys, don't spill your latte.

Ford, air down those 35's,put it into Baja mode, floor it....

Looks like Ford are seriously attacking Jeep's market place. I like the look of it. Defender 90XS SW

It’s fantastic. I love the utility bar on top of the dash for attaching stuff to (and it even provides power).

It’s frustrating that when many of us criticised the new Defender, the response was often that LR needs to move with the times and can’t just make the same old vehicle. The thing is, I for one wasn’t asking LR to do that. Yes, update the vehicle, but retain its essence. If LR had launched the new Defender looking something like this, and with the types of videos I’ve been watching (rather than talk of ‘verticality’), I would’ve been overjoyed.

The only people buying the new Defender in the US will be the same types buying Range Rovers: as a show off piece. Those doing actual stuff will be buying a Jeep, a Bronco or even a Grenadier if they get there. LR could’ve had a piece of that action, but alas no.

Funny that JLR at the time said they wanted the New Defender to take on the Jeep and Toyota.

Ford never regarded Land Rover as competion and now we know why....

As I said on another post, LR only talk the talk these days, but other companies spend the time showing what can be done by combining technology and ability in one good looking package... I tip my hat Ford.

Now bring it to the UK....

If they stick the steering wheel on the correct side, I WILL be buying this, without any doubt. It's just perfect. Ford have got everything right.
More than that, though, this is REALLY going to knock out Defender sales in the US...as I predicted some time back. It will ensure also that Ineos won't sell a single Grenadier in the US. But they have to make a RHD version for the UK, Australia, Japan, South Africa, India. However, Ford have a massive seller on their hands. I don't think they will be able to make them fast enough. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at JLR this morning! Now left.
