Are you sure it wasn't the anchor for the Exxon Valdez?

Rolling with laughter Well unfortunately all my inside storage is full and guernsey hasn’t got the best dry air rating so I’d rather overdo it and wrap it up in a tarp than skimp and let it rot away. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Wednesday I planned on making a start to refitted the replacement alternator.
Got it mounted and the first bolt in. Then thought, what the heck, may as well do the full job.
2 hrs later all done and refitted.
Two hardest parts;
Getting the alty into the bottom mount and getting the bolt lined up
Getting the belt back on.
The belt was being a PITA. Had a few goes and sat back for 2 mins, had a breather. One more try and straight on! Not sure what had changed but the belt slipped right on the top pulley.

Still waiting on the previous alternator to be tested by the supplier but as I needed the car back on the road, a new one was purchased. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Today i picked mine up from being in the barn on the farm for 3 weeks, it's got issues!

won't come on boost, very hesitant when you go to do so. it's holding back with no power.

I have so far, WD40 onto wastegate, i managed to move it freely with molegrips so i think it's fine there, unplugged MAF and drove it with no change.
Just ordered injector loom to try that, if that doesn't cure it then i'm at a bit of a loss.

It was perfect last time i used it as it towed a heavy trailer.

Might be worth unbolting the ecu and standing it on its end for a while to see if anything comes out. Ray

Changed the seat covers and foams and with the old ones made a cubby box lid.

Good job mate, what foams and covers did you use and how hard or long was the job?

Sorry for the delay Danny. The new covers and foams where brought from LRdirect. around £125 I think. The getting the old ones off was simple. The getting the new ones on not so... If you are going to do it you need to remember to fold the backrest foam under the bottom bar to allow you to fix the front and back of the cover together. All in all took a couple of hours, 4 Malboro Gold and a strong black coffee.

I made the cubby box lid cushion out of a old seat pad and two sheets of foam that are separate in the old seats.
