Had an email from them yesterday:
"Hi , You're receiving this email because you signed up for our Newsletter in the past. Thank you so much for following us and supporting us during this wild journey. We will be announcing the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for our trucks tomorrow Thursday, October 24th, around 10:00 AM EST. " A quick Goolge suggests that this is 3pm this afternoon for us...I might schedule a tea break to co-incide with the announcement. It can't be more disappointing than the Defender reveal...can it? |

Yeah, I'm not completely surprised by the pricing. I think they have struggled to get the right investment in place to do higher volume, which means the vehicles are being hand-assembled, bit by bit, and in the US of A. That's not going to come in cheap. Unfortunately for them I think they've played the positioning game a bit wrong, leading to a lot of disappointed people who were hoping for more workmanlike pricing. I hope they find some buyers as this is one of the only EVs I have seen that appeals on any level (in addition to the beautiful Nobe 100).

EV startup Bollinger Motors unveils electric chassis for Class 3 trucks Click image to enlarge "Bollinger Motors, the startup that is developing the battery-electric off-road B1 four-door SUV and B2 pickup truck, has taken the wraps off the modular E-Chassis that it says will underpin both vehicles. And the news is that the Ferndale, Mich.-based startup will use it to develop future models and commercial trucks. The patent-pending platform accommodates many of the features shared by both vehicles, including 120-kWh battery pack, front and rear motors, all-wheel drive, power system controls, portal gear hub, thermal-management system and off-road features like hydro-pneumatic self-leveling suspension and independent front and rear suspension. Bollinger also says it can be easily adjusted to fit a variety of wheelbase lengths, for front- or rear-wheel-drive setups, and with or without portal gear hubs. It can also accommodate larger-capacity batteries of up to 180 kWh for higher range. “When we first built our Class 3 B1, we knew there was a commercial aspect to the platform,” CEO and founder Robert Bollinger said. “Not only cab-on-chassis, but entirely new truck bodies can fit on our E-Chassis, and help propel the world to all-electric that much faster.” The platform is covered under the same patent application Bollinger announced in January, which it said includes the entire vehicle, with “particular emphasis on the specific arrangement of the major components and subsystems.” It offered by way of example the way the motors, inverters, gearboxes and chargers “are arranged centrally and symmetrically" and result "in a desirable effect on the vehicles’ center of gravity.” When asked if the company plans to license the platform to other truck manufacturers or make its own commercial truck, Bollinger said, “Yes we could license it. And we’re planning on making it ourself to sell.” Bollinger announced last fall that the B1 SUV and B2 pickup will both start at $125,000. The base versions will be equipped with the 120 -Wh batteries, good for an estimated 200 miles of range, and will offer 614 horsepower and 668 pound-feet of torque. They also feature 10, 110-volt AC outlets, or 240-volt output as an option. Besides their off-road goodies, the interior is completely sealed off, so you can hose it out after running it in the mud or fording it in as much as 36 inches of water. Since the pricing announcement, I guess most people on this forum have lost interest in Bollinger.
Latest video, together with what feels like really slow progress towards market makes it easy to think that they are just treading water a little at the moment. |

I see they were grappling with various issues that they now seen to have solved.
Looking great in white: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge PRODUCTION INTENT DESIGN We raised the beltline or “shoulder” of the truck to allow for more packaging space for the components under the frunk, but also to raise the overall occupant head clearance. This visually impacted the exterior design in a positive way, by keeping a majority of the visual weight below that beltline (the chamfer that runs the length of the body side, just below the hood), it creates a more stable and sturdy appearance. The major change that drove our exterior design adjustments came from our breakthrough in thermal management. We were able to reduce our overall radiator size and utilize one slim cooling unit behind the bumper where it would receive better airflow. The dual, top mounted radiators were no longer required, which allowed us to widen the frunk significantly. We moved the headlights outboard, creating a similar mounting strategy as the rear lights, allowing further symmetry in our design. The B-pillar (behind the front seats) was moved forward for better ingress and egress for the rear occupant. It then made the sliding glass window cassettes less effective, so we opted to go with the time-proven technology of manual crank windows. This system is much lighter and just as robust as our sliding glass design. The windshield, side glass, and rear glass all grew taller to accommodate for more head clearance and to help with overall exterior proportions. With the taller beltline, it was necessary to vertically grow the “greenhouse” (as it’s called in automotive design) to provide better visibility, driver experience and aesthetics.
