52mm Gauges
Well I thought that this was going to be easy...……

I am going to install a Mud Console in the 300tdi.

New radio across the bottom - OK

Bank of Carling Switches above the radio - OK

I want a couple of 52mm gauges across the top (volt meter, Rev counter, EGT monitor)

I want all the gauges to look like a match to the standard dash gauges (black face, white markings, white or red needles and white backlight) similar to the voltmeter and overall panel look below...….

The VDO range of gauges look ideal but I cant find an EGT gauge in their line up, or indeed a Rev counter.

Fourby do an EGT gauge but it can't be fitted in the EGR blanking plate as the probe is too short Shocked
Stack do an EGT gauge but its expensive and I have no idea if its probe would fit.

There are some Rev counters on Ebay, but the ones that LOOK like a good match say "NOT SUITABLE FOR LANDROVERS"???????
see below......

Can Somebody please point me in the right direction...…. 2000 D2 TD5 - ahhh bless
2006 D3 - no longer with us and sadly missed
1997 300tdi d90 - now with electrics that work!
- now with a brand new custom made soft top fitted
…...…...............….new chassis now all fixed and driving like new
2010 D4 alas no more, but a lovely colour (Nara)

Saw this one on ebay, seems to be universal fit, not sure why the one you found not suitable for land rover.
Price not too bad so may be worth a gamble.

VDO do make a rev counter, but you will have to hunt hard to find it for a decent price:

Likewise EGT (Pyrometer):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PYROMETER-GAUGE...1499148226

I ended up getting the rev counter from the US as it worked out considerably cheaper.

They are a pretty close match to standard gauges, the illumination is slightly different and the needles are red not orange but other than that they don't look out of place.

I recently had a similar dilemma, though fitting in a Mud mini-pod dash mount. Ended up with a Stack EGT gauge - can confirm probe fits but needed a slight bend. Can take some photos later if you like.

It was expensive but no issues with fitting or operation. 1996 300Tdi Defender 110

I did my dash with gauges all from Stack as that was the only supplier that seemed to be able to offer all the matching set and that worked with the 300tdi. Really like the style of them too, the 270* sweep of the gauges for accuracy and a nice led backlight display.

I went for speedo, EGT, water temp, fuel and clock.

Fourby do this rev counter...…..

https://fourby.co.uk/epages/950004277.sf/en_GB/?ObjectID=48769021

I think I'll mount this in the dash - close enough match the the original instruments (black / orange / white) - and move the clock to the Mud console.

If I go for Stack instuments, I might have to upgrade to a stack Stack clock as well (but £93 Shocked )

Cheers Frenchy - I was trying to keep it all looking ‘factory’ or at least uniform Thumbs Up

Here’s a couple more pics that show it better.

Alex - is that a Raptor dash?? - I like it all sprayed black Cool

Piclkes - I love Smiths / Jeager speedo from the series 2 - if it was a Series vehicle maybe, but the defender has that 80s / 90s look and I am looking to match the original instruments. 2000 D2 TD5 - ahhh bless

So, here's the plan...….

Main Instrument Binnacle -
Original speedo / Fuel / Temp plus New Tacho for fourby (saves £60 over the VDO unit and a close -ish match to originals)

Centre Mud Console
New EGY (PYROMETER!!) / New Clock / New Voltmeter - all from stack and (for me Embarassed ) eye wateringly expensive but will all match each other and a close enough overall match to the main instruments

Got a new Kenwood radio now as well - just need to work out how to set the multi changing LED colours to match the rest of the instruments (I'll have to read the destruction book Big Cry )

Yep Raptor centre console and a raptor dash with the raptor metal binnacle housing too. It makes it so solid compared to the original plastic jobby
