Is this on a Puma or something else? Donald

Ah. Apologies then. It was the way you said " I see on my Puma....." I read that as if you might have been comparing your Puma to something else.
I could say that on the earlier cars, there's an inner and outer cable, and replacing the inner cable would be quite straightforward. I'm afraid I'm not in the least familiar with the Puma-era vehicles. Again, on the earlier ones, replacing the cable would be easier with the OS headlight removed. Maybe the case here, but I better stop until someone comes along who knows what they're talking about.  Donald

I was advised to use a genuine LR cable when my TD5 one snapped. "You won't want to do it again in a few months time..."

Just to reinvigorate this thread, has anyone a step by step guide on how to replace the bonnet catch end on the cable on a Puma? My bonnet pops open always now and on inspection, the head of the 7mm bolt that you adjust the cable with has sheered off somehow, and the cable is slipping.
I have a genuine replacement cable and new 7mm bolt and olive. After extensive research, Icant find anything on how to replace this item on a Puma era Defender. Thanks for any help with this everyone. Ken  Click image to enlarge 2012 110 LS3 6.2 V8 - 6 Speed Auto |

All sorted, and the two piece cable makes life easier!
You can access it from the Rt Click image to enlarge wing panel cut out and then just thread the new cable out via the Rt headlight. I removed my grill to be able to totally remove the bonnet lock assembly panel so I could drill out the failed 7mm bolt. All good now and working as it should be. Hi Texas;
Ha, thanks here in Australia they are a very common modification. We call them a ‘Bull Bar’ and used due to the wildlife on the road which includes cattle, camel, emu etc as well as the ubiquitous kangaroo.There’s a very real chance of hitting a critter when out of town on country roads. Also, you can nose your vehicle into a tree etc when winching which really makes heavy recovery so much easier sometimes. Driving light and UHF antenna, and sand flag mounts as well as seed net-wading blind are a must for us as well if travel remote.
