I think your both missing the point... Even as a jacking point the structure is designed to take a localized load... not an impact load, or act as a deformable structure.... It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...

I got your point, I’m no engineer so shouldn’t really be commenting. that whole bit underneath is pretty chunky on the disco and I would hope given it likely forms part of the side impact protection it can take a knock but it could be an issue as you say. The jack point doesn’t get used for the step mounts it’s just around the same area of structure which is hopefully a stiff bit otherwise someone’s not designed it right. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

i have fitted rock sliders with step outs on my RRS, i would assume the ones from Lucky8 for the
Defender will not be that much different. On my RRS there were pre-drilled and tapped holes, but who knows what for, as previously they were hidden under a plastic trim..same on the D3 and D4.. hopefully the Defender will be similar.. seen some very flattened landies that have been delivered by the RAF via low level extraction, safer by chopper than Herc sometimes.. one LWB i saw at RAF Lyneham was only as high as the engine block yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

That’s what I want to know, the dealership I bought the car from are being rather uncooperative about availability of accessories and those recovery rings are not listed on the JLR configurator yet other than as being a piece of standard kit fitted to the Defender X. I’ve emailed PowerfulUK to see if they might be considering doing them as one of their items Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

I guess the question is that like certain parts for the SVX, do you have to quote a particular VIN to prove the replacement part is for that model type or not?

No, I have been told that there is definitely an accessory part but so far num part number or price. The recovery eye that comes with the car is the beefiest one I’ve ever seen even on a Land Rover product and I wondered if it is the same thing
Except instead of screwing in under the front bumper you screw it into the oblong holes under the press out covers in the rear bumper I haven’t tried opening this circled cover but that is where the recovery eye screws in Or gets attached Here is what the iGuide says about offroad covert eyes, it’s the last para , sorry I couldn’t get it all into one screenshot the fixed eye is a different design to the “towing” recovery eye.
