I would say that it was fitted by a previous owner. It's probably mammoth, which supplied Land rover with their stock.

How far back the wing tops does the chequerplate go, OEM finished about 3 inches short of the bulkhead

... and if it was fitted and sealed well, the factory didn't do it.

I don't think chequer plate was offered by JLR for the bonnet?

It’s odd as it’s been fitted and spayed to a perfect finish of the black and grey

Factory finish (actually dealer fit I think) is black anodised rather than paint.
Everything is looking like aftermarket fitment. |

Wingtop look original, bonnet after market and all probably resprayed to make it look tidy
