I've not seen the film "Idiocracy", in fact I've never heard of it - although that's not surprising as I don't go to the cinema or watch films on TV. So I decided to look it up on Wikipedia. It makes a very interesting read.

I do worry for the future world, chap in my office - I was listening to him calling his car dealer asking for a quote for a new wheel. I knew he had a puncture the day before, he put the phone down and said "£800! that's expensive my dad said it would only be a hundred quid'. Can you guess what I had to explain to him next? 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Wouldn't say zero, different maybe.
You tired controlling a room full of little sh*ts? Not a teacher myself and I don't think I would have the patience to do it. |

Had a similar experience with a Consultant at the Hospital.
I was using a wire wheel on the end of an angle grinder to clean up some trailer wheels. Being Mr health and safety, I had gloves, mask and eye protection. I finished the wheels, de-gowned and went out for a cuppa. I came back and found a small piece I had missed. The rest as they say was history and there I was being carted off to A&E by the present Mrs Rashers with an eye injury. When I finally got seen, the Doctor asked me how the accident happened. 'I was using an angle grinder with a wire wheel on it to clean up some metal wheels'. I said. 'An angle what?' came the reply back. At first I thought it was some kind of sick medical profession joke, but he had absolutely no idea what an angle grinder was. I explained it was like a drill, but had an angled end and it usually had disk attachments for grinding and cutting, but I had been using a wire wheel attachment. The Guy got really uptight with me saying that if I couldn't explain how I had the accident, how was he supposed to treat me On the Teacher case, my best mate as I grew up had both parents as teachers. He got a puncture in his bike. They had seen people remove tyres with kitchen implements. It's just such a shame they choose knives to try and lever the tyre off rather than spoons |

With his level of attention to technical 'detail', humanity would never have invented the wheel in the first place. Let alone run-flat tyres |

I got a socket set for my 18th birthday, I don't use it nearly as much as I should but its one present I still cherish and find invaluable at times. It is shocking that people genuinely have no idea! “He who can does; he who cannot, teaches.” Sorry, that's very harsh on teachers, who are doing an excellent job in these lockdown times!!

I’ve just been doing a large amount of work in a head teachers house. Was surprised at some of the decisions that she made, and the approach to the work. But at least they appear to earn well, so can to cover the extra costs of poor/odd decisions.

Head teachers I think do, run of the mill teachers do not.

When 50% of the UK population goes to University, either youngsters are far, far brighter than I give them credit for, or somethings badly out of kilter. Idiot Blairite policy to allow people to be upwardly mobile. Balls. All it’s served to do is dumb down degrees, create an unfillable void in the apprentice/manual labour market, and given a lot of 21-somethings a complex because the can’t get any job better than stacking shelves in Amazon with their 2:2 degree in Hand Embroidery, Circus Performance or Floral Design (All réal degrees by the way). And people wonder why there are so many Eastern European plumbers, builders and joiners. You can’t build a house or fit out a bathroom with 2:2 in some vacuous degree. How to dumb down the next generation of a nation, strip them of common sense, laden them with debt, make them a worldwide educational laughing stock, create some emotional insecurities and make them completely incapable of doing anything that doesn’t involve a smartphone. All in the frankly delusional desire to allow them to take a step up the social ladder by short cut. Man alive. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
