1950's/60's - 2 up on a Triumph/BSA/Triton pillion passenger using phone box by cafe would call next cafe down the A5 or similar main/trunk road, and the clock would be started. Clock stopped when/if bike arrived. Simple pleasures Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

And that’s a period replica of the original Thruxton. I had one just like it early 70’s. The same TT100 tyres, 4.5gallon tank, the MkIII Amal Concentric carbs will open velocity stacks. No fairing on mine though but it did have open Thruxton pipes. My parents complained that they could feel the whole house shake when I started her up! Still remember the registration - JNW21E. It was the 2 wheel version of the Land Rover - in so much that it taught me how to be a mechanic. Spent more time getting my hands oily than actually riding it. And when I did ride it (in a lively youthful manner) it shook so badly with it 360 degree twin configuration that my eyesight became too blurred to see the road ahead! Happy days! |

Excellent gathering place for enthusiasts. Been many times myself. We Defender enthusiasts ought to have a local equivalent! |
