Reverse switch working but not in reverse
Hello and hoping someone can help.
Have a 2007 Puma and the reverse light does not go on when I select reverse. Have taken the switch out and tested manually and the light goes on.
So am thinking earth and wiring is fine.
Could the ball wear enough to not engage and still need a new switch?
Or
Is it likely to be an issue in the gearbox selector wearing to not engage the switch?

Any advice welcome otherwise will just have to buy a new switch and try that.

Thanks Andy, will get a new switch ordered and hope that’s it then and is just worn.

Cheers for the reply

Me too. Failure of this switch seems to be relatively common, unfortunately. Darren

I had a similar issue with mine, which turned out to be because the switch wasn't fully screwed in to the gearbox. Tightening it up (about 4 turns) fixed the problem.

All fixed new switch, didn’t notice the one in was a ford switch by previous owner which is shorter than LR.

Thanks for the help
