You will recall that my daughter got her first car, a 300 tdi 7 station wagon some months ago. I got her a toolkit to go with it. I got this message from my daughter this morning.
The house beside my stable is getting done up for someone to move in and the builders came over to me this morning saying they couldn't remove the radiator and would I have *insert tool name here* in my land rover so I said I've no idea but come and have a look and lo and behold Click image to enlarge This is the toolkit I got her. It is by Siegen and has all of the basics she should need (and other people as well it seems Click image to enlarge They saw the Land Rover so assumed she would have tools. I wonder if they would have come over to her if they had seen a NEW 90 models parked at the stable? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

If the reactions I got from various white van drivers while out on a test drive in a 110 then the answer is yes. Every time I stopped at traffic lights with a van in the other lane I got the driver’s door knock on to ask if I like it and how fantastic it looks in Gangsta Black Edition (that colour isn’t what I would have - too much hard work to keep clean and scratch free!) I got loads of thumbs ups and very complimentary comments about my choice of colour scheme (Of course they didn’t know I was on a test drive!) The Gangsta Edition D200 SE Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

That really ought to come with a 48" 20kW sub, an exhaust the diameter of a dustbin, and "spinners" on the wheels! |

At least in Gangsta Black you can’t see the ridiculous coloured square thing over part of the rear doors and rear side window but that’s about the only thing going for it........ oh and with only 200 horses the fuzz will soon catch up with you on their mountain bikes, definitely loads of show and not much go.... Having not taken much notice of the new Defender because I’m sure it’s far to costly for me to afford, but what does the ‘ridiculous coloured square thing over part of the rear doors and rear side window‘ do ?

Daz,
It’s a cover for a massive pillar that contributes to the chassis’ torsional stiffness It’d be quite a bit uglier if not disguised 😂 My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years. |

Thanks
Not so bad on the black one with the black windows with the black cover. As it doesn’t stick out much. But I don’t like it body coloured on other colour Defenders. |

When my daughter and her husband moved into their apartment I made up a basic tool kit for her as Chris her husband doesn’t know a hammer from a screwdriver bless him. She has used it several times and is very proud of her DIY skills

Good for you for supplying it and your daughter for remembering she has it! However, I do question the ability of a plumber who doesn't have one in his toolkit!
PS I'm proud to say I like the New Defender!
