The top half of the first photo made me think you were in Australia. Shocked

What does a Radio contest involve? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Fitting FleaBay DRL's
OK so we have a 2001 Defender 90 and spending a fair bit of time tarting it up now we have spent a lot of time getting it to run correctly, cold start aside! Decided to fit DRL's (even though the headlights have them people seem to have great difficulty in seeing Defenders heading towards them) and found some nice ones on fleabay, these incorporated both DRL and Indicator LEDs, each DRL comes with 3 wires and there has been discussions on how to wire DRLs.
Anyway we cut slots in the bumper and made good giving a respray in the process, held the lenses in place with clear silicone sealant, screwed the main body of the DRL's to the lenses clamping the bumper in between then added builder foam behind to seal, joined the earths and made a bond point underside of bumper. We then fed each indicator wire up into each headlamp box and across to the Indicators, the remaining wires are then fed to an illuminated rocker switch on the dash with power coming from the alternator. That last bit we have yet to do but that's how we spent yesterday!
My thanks to Archie, master mechanic and grinder monkey!

How did you get one? I made my 1st HF SOTA contact so well happy with that (but wasn't sitting in the back of an LR.
Is that a Clarke mast?

Nice setup in the rear. 1999 Defender TD5 110

It feels a bit like Aus here at the moment

Stations from around the world try to make contact with as many different countries as possible in an allotted time. Or add to their life time score of new countries.

I’m at 275 countries at the moment. There are 320 ish but most left for me are uninhabited islands

No more nerdy than landrovers !

Yes 13m clark . There is a thread somewhere with details on the rack system that folds onto the roof. There is a compressor and air tank under the drivers seat to pump it up.

Aerial is for 6m trying to work the US and China. Home made to DK7ZB design.

Here it is - where it should be

Thanks ChopCat.

I am sure I have seen the thread on the mast. I must confess, I do like a Clarke mast, 13m is a good height. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Decided it was about time the fuel filter guard was changed, it had definitely seen better days Neutral

Got a genuine replacement one, primed it, rustproofed it, 2 coats of Raptor and a lacquer should see it right for a fews years now Smile

The one that came off:

And the new one:

Last week I was so bored, I wondered if there was a solution to Defender door handle knee dig - I’d seen the Nak leather door pulls but didn’t really fancy them.

Anyway, found these

Got them from Rock n Road 4x4 And my knees love them; ordered them Friday, here Monday...nice one.

Cheers

They're nice.

Would they be long enough to replace the overhead handles in a 110?
